There has been crime and violence in the World since the beginning of time. There has been violence and chaos in the United States since our founding. Ever wonder why or if there is a way to put a stop to it. In my little post here I would like to cover five of the major problems we have in the World today. The only time the violence is going to end is with the coming of Jesus Christ to set up his kingdom on earth. In the meantime we can only hope to slow things down, so we can have a more productive and peaceful life here on Earth.
Holy Sabbath Day
More and more people have quit going to church on Sunday. The reasons are many, but throughout the years’ people have diminished the strength of the Holy Sabbath day. I can remember years ago when a family attended church on Sunday. You might find a gas station open on Sunday, but that was about it. Everything else was locked up. There were no Wal-Marts open, no Malls having weekend sales, and no traffic jams. Most places across America looked deserted, kind of like a ghost town effect. It is hard for a young person today to picture that!
The reason is the majority of the people then, obeyed the FOURTH COMMANDMENT, REMEMBER THE SABBATH, to Remember the Sabbath Day and keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh, you shall not do any work, your sons, your daughters or anyone else in your family. I think we need to try and start practicing the FOURTH COMMANDMENT again. Maybe I’m wrong but, it should lead to more family unity and happiness!
Now I am not suggesting everyone become comparable to a priest or preacher and drown you in the Bible. If you took that Commandment, by itself, it would go a long way to keeping a family together and happy. On Sunday most people sleep in and when they get up, mom goes shopping, dad goes fishing, and the sons and daughters go off with their friends or sit home watching TV or making sure they stay in contact with everyone on Facebook! If a family would get up, go to church and spend the rest of the day together, I feel it would go a long way toward family cohesiveness. Have a backyard Bar-B-Que, watch an educational program together, a game of backyard horseshoes, or attend an afternoon church event. Mothers and Fathers, communicating, interacting, and just talking with your children may help them overcome the problems they are concerned about in their younger life, and help them to be honest, trustworthy, and productive in their adult life. If everyone would implement the FOURTH COMMANDMENT we might not have as much family strife, grief, and the disintegration of the family.
Why do we have a drug addiction, untrustworthy people, bullies, and thieves? Every day the news is full of stories about murder, kids getting bullied, drug overdoses, and people committing larceny. Author Etienne Krug said, “Physical, sexual, and psychological abuse occur in every country on a daily basis, undermining the health and well-being of many millions of people “The World Health Organization estimates that 1.6 million people met premature and violent deaths in 2000. The FBI estimates 17,250 people were reported killed in the US in 2016. The arrest rate for burglary in 2015 was 67.7% per 100,000 people.
I would hope parents are not teaching their children to rob and commit murder. The bigger problem is parents wait too long to start teaching their children. Honor your Father, your Mother, meaning you do what your parents tell you to do. If parents were teaching their children to have high moral values and children are practicing the FIFTH COMMANDMENT, HONOR THY FATHER AND MOTHER, throughout life, it would prevent a lot of the crime we have in our society. If children were honoring their mother and father, as they got older, we would have fewer seniors in nursing homes.
Chicago IL had the deadliest year in almost two decades in 2015. Chicago police stated that 762 people were killed, an increase of 58%. In March 2016 Dallas, TX reported the murder rate was up 86% from the same time in 2015. In 2014 there were 260 homicides in Los Angeles, CA at a rate of 6.7 per 100,000 people.
One can see the pattern here, all over the United States murder rates are up, and even in cities where they normally don’t worry about murders, there has been an increase. What about the SIXTH COMMANDMENT, THOU SHALT NOT KILL, thou shalt not murder, Think of what a difference it would make in everyone’s lives if everyone obeyed the SIXTH COMMANDMENT!
Forty to fifty percent of married couples in the United States divorce. This creates children living without a father or mother, most of the time without a father. This leads to a mother trying to work and raise their children on their own. Millions of studies have been done, that conclude boys living without a father in their lives are more likely to be involved in gangs, drugs, rapes, and murders. A daughter living without her mother can lead to a young woman have a host of psychological problems. The bottom line, both parents are needed for the health and well-being of children.
Once again, just think if everyone implemented the SEVENTH COMMANDMENT. THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY. If a man and women stayed true to each other, respected each other. Worked to develop stable marriages and committed themselves to raising their children with love and honesty, we would have a lot fewer problems’ of gangs, rape, murders, and robberies in America.
Everyone knows robberies have also been steadily increasing over the years. Car alarm companies, home alarm systems, and identity protection companies are selling their products at a record pace. Anyone with a Convenience store knows the risk involved to their employees. They tell their employees to just hand over the money and have installed security cameras in every corner.
What about the EIGHTH COMMANDMENT, THOU SHALT NOT STEAL? The eighth commandment forbids unjustly taking or keeping the goods of a neighbor or any other person. Many years ago people in our nation practiced this commandment, we didn’t need to build bars across our windows or lock our doors at night.
As I have said, I am not preaching to you to drown yourselves in religion. I am not saying “Go to Church Every Day,”I’m just saying “go every Sunday.” It would be good if everyone practiced the ten commandments, but just these five by themselves would change the world in a lot of ways. Just sit and think for a few minutes about what a difference these five Commandments would make in our lives!! The best to you – look forward to your comments! Your Comments are always Welcome!!
